Aqua Dome

The Thermal Water of Längenfeld!

Deep from the earth's core flows the healing thermal water – a spring with a rich history.

The History of the Thermal Water

From the former Längenfelder Badl in the 16th century to the creation of the AQUA DOME, four centuries have passed. Emerging from a depth of 1,865 meters and at a temperature of 40°C, the healing water flows to the surface in the Ötztal Längenfeld. It was rediscovered during deep drilling in 1997, after the well-known source of the "Badl" had run dry in 1960.

The extracted Längenfelder water is classified by chemical analysis as a sulfur spring, containing 5 mg of divalent sulfur per liter, and recognized as a legal healing spring. Three to four liters per second bubble warm and pure through a 100-meter-long pipe system directly into the spa.

A Heavenly Water with Sulfur

In the 16th century, a source in the Längenfeld valley floor was first reported, characterized by its "distinctively sulfurous smell." At that time, every spring with a unique flavor was considered a healing source. In 1872, the magazine "Der Alpenfreund" humorously remarked: "Wherever a little water emerges with any unusual taste of earth, iron, or sulfur, it is regarded as a healing spring."

This rustic bath was not a place of luxury, yet it was a bath. The German travel writer R. Flab described his experience in 1897 after wandering in the mountains: "The supposed 'fine bath' turned out to be a wooden shack. In times of need, the devil eats flies. So, into the sulfur pool we go!"

From Rustic Bath to Modern Spa

Times have changed. The simple peasant bath has transformed into a genuine spa, ultimately leading to the creation of the state-of-the-art AQUA DOME. What was once frequented by farmers and a few "elderly maidens" has evolved into a highly esteemed destination for wandering tourists and wellness guests. The appreciation for Längenfeld's healing water has steadily grown since then.

The thermal water of Längenfeld – a source of healing and relaxation for centuries.
